Made to Measure Home Office

“I just get so envious when I see other people’s home offices on Zoom calls” said our customer from Fareham, Hampshire. “I really want something which makes them say, wow, I love what you’ve done with your space.” So started the new home office project for our new customer.

Like most home offices, theirs was cluttered with family, home, holiday, work, insurance, and other paperwork. It was also home for a sewing machine, hundreds of recipes, and family pictures. The room was made up from random pieces of mismatched furniture. It was time for a new home office.

Design Meeting

We met at our customer’s house to measure up and listen to what she wanted from the room. She wanted to use the empty wall space to store beautiful objects and plants. And she wanted low lying units around the room with a continuous worktop to create a seamless look. As she works from home 95% of the time, she wanted easy access to her computer and work files and a higher than usual desk. Style wise she liked a two-tone colour palette and chose Halifax Oak and Graphite grey, and she wanted no handles on the doors and drawers.

CAD Designs

From her brief, we went away and used ArtiCAD software to create some visuals for her:

Changing the design

We had several conversations back and forth to discuss how to hide all the cables behind her desk and the unit sizes, until we got to an agreed design. The customer then signed off on this.

Restyling the room

Our customer then set on painting her room, replacing her radiator, and lighting. She had no major electrical work to do and pressed on with picking a lovely shade of grey for the walls. She ordered a new carpet which would be installed after the fitting of the furniture

The End Result

Like most companies in the home improvement sector in 2022, we have been struck with supply chain problems. Our customer was very patient with us, and we started the installation and followed up with the outstanding parts a brief time after. “You knocked it out of the park, I love it” said Jane.
